Dear Friends, It is my pleasure and honour for the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of the Republic of Indonesia to submit the proposal to The World Water Council for hosting the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia on March 2024.

Nowadays, the world includes Indonesia, facing the challenges in water, food, and energy sector, such as vast escalation of population, environment degradation, and also numerous kinds of global issues which are simultaneously affecting our water resources development and management. All challenges have triggered on the demand for implementation agendas toward sustainable water resources development and management, which includes water resources conservation, utilization, and prevention to water related disasters as well.

Government of Indonesia of 2019-2024 period has established priority programs as called “Indonesian Vision”.   The vision and mission are targeted at responding to global challenges that are complex, evolving, and full of uncertainties and risks to face challenges in the face of global competition.   Under this proposal, we propose “Water for Shared Prosperity” as to answer the global challenges and potentials we are facing due to the increasing population growth and urbanization.

Population growth and development rates make changes to natural and environmental conditions that affect water resources. These changes must be accompanied by conservation efforts by maintaining the existence and sustainability of the condition, green, nature and function of water resources so that they are always available in suffcient quantity and quality to meet the needs of living things, both now and in the future in order to reach prosperity.

I hope the upcoming 10th World Water Forum could be a good forum for sharing knowledge and experience in water resources development and management in general. I believe that the event could bring advantages for all participants. I hope that various attractive topics will highlight important issues and create a forum for open discussion, formulation innovative perspective and new ways of perceiving the future technology toward sustainable development and management of water resources.
