President Jokowi Welcomes the President of the World Water Council

President Joko Widodo met with the President of the World Water Council (WWC), Loïc Fauchon, at the VVIP Room of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali Province, on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022, before departing for Cambodia. In his post-meeting speech, Loïc expressed optimism that President Jokowi could send a message to all G20 members emphasizing the significance of water as a top priority.

“Water is in crisis in a lot of countries in the world, and now we need to bring concrete responses, not only speeches, and that is the reason why I meet the Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), Basuki, the President of Indonesia, and asked him to be the water messenger during the G20,” Loïc said.

Loïc said that Indonesia will host the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali in 2024. He is also optimistic about the forum's success.

"It will be a very huge event with more than 10,000 delegates and perhaps 100,000 visitors," he stated.

“We are very confident with the experiences of Indonesian water professionals and due the authority of the President of Indonesia, we will organize a very successful World Water Forum,” continued Loïc.

Acompanying the President Jokowi in the meeting, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, the Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, the Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, and the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.
